K-12 Cybersecurity Professional Development for Educators

The Challenges That Educators Face
Teacher Graphic.PNG

Cyber Security continues to be a hot topic in schools. Districts want to include it into their curriculum. The desire is there but the workforce and the expertise is not. This is where Enterceptor excels. We are changing how cybersecurity instructors are developed. In an effort to increase the number of cyber security instructors throughout the United States. At Enterceptor we train educators from any discipline (English, math, art, etc...) to teach cybersecurity. Our goal is to decrease the cybersecurity teacher to student ratio gap within the United States.

Having access to classes is only half the battle, though. Quality of education matters a great deal. Not surprisingly, how students see a class also impacts whether they want to further learn about computer science and even pursue a career in the field. Lack Of Access To Computer Science Resources, Not Lack Of Interest, Negatively Impacts Students From Underrepresented Groups - Carolina Milanesi

Job numbers.JPG

Employment in computer and information technology is projected to grow 13 percent from 2020 to 2030, faster than the average for all occupations. These occupations are projected to add about 667,600 new jobs. Demand for these workers will stem from greater emphasis on cloud computing, the collection and storage of big data, and information security.

The median annual wage for computer and information technology occupations was $91,250 in May 2020, which was higher than the median annual wage for all occupations of $41,950 - Department of Labor and Statistics

Cybersecurity for every student, requires a more disruptive implementation than simply providing more opportunities for computing education as opt-in-enrichment. This necessitates a shift from the traditional view of cybersecurity as an elective. Cybersecurity should be offered as a core class for every student  - Computer Science for Equity
